Rafa still keen on Rondon

Rafa Benitez is targeting a reunion with West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon at Chinese club Dalian Yifang, reports the Daily Mail.

Rondon, , enjoyed an excellent season under Benitez at Newcastle United last term and was expected to rejoin the Magpies before the Spaniard’s exit.

Champions League winning boss Benitez has since been appointed manager of Chinese Super League side Dalian and he reportedly wants to sign Rondon.

West Brom are expecting the Venezuelan to leave this summer once a club activates his buyout clause, which is believed to be £.million.

And that shouldn’t prove a problem for big spending Dalian, who are reportedly paying Benitez £million per year.

Wolves also hold an interest in Rondon, who scored times in Premier League matches on loan at Newcastle last term.

Defender approach

Wolverhampton Wanderers have ‘approached’ Saint Etienne over their talented young defender William Saliba, according to reports in France.

Wolves are in the market for reinforcements this summer, and Nuno Espirito Santo is known to be keen on signing a new centre-back.

A whole host of names have been linked with Wolves, including Mexican Edson Alvarez and Brentford defender Ezri Konsa.

And the latest player to be connected to Wolves is Saliba, who is reportedly a target for fellow Premier League side Arsenal.

According to Yahoo Sport, Wolves have asked about Saliba’s availability and Roma could follow suit in the coming hours.

The same publication claims Arsenal have submitted a second bid for Saliba after their initial offer was knocked back.

Liverpool s Pepe talks

Liverpool are in talks over a summer move for Nicolas Pepe, Lille president Gerard Lopez has confirmed.

Pepe’s future has been a source of rampant speculation so far during the transfer window with a host of top clubs around Europe having been linked.

His list of admirers is said to include Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich while Wolves were also credited with an interest earlier this year.

£m-rated Pepe scored goals and provided assists for Lille last season as they finished a distant second in Ligue to runaway champions PSG.

The -year-old is currently playing for Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations and Lopez has confirmed Liverpool’s interest.

He said Lille received two bids, both coming prior to the tournament.

Arsenal frustration

Arsenal face yet more transfer frustration as another club join the race to sign Barcelona’s Malcom.

French club Saint-Etienne are the latest club to enquire after the forward, who is a Gunners target.

Arsenal are having a tough time in this transfer window as boss Unai Emery only has around £million to spend due to the club’s failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

The Gunners have Wilfried Zaha in their sights, but Crystal Palace have already rejected an inquiry of £million from Arsenal for their star forward.

According to Sport Mediaset, Lazio’s sporting director, Igli Tare, has flown to England to hold talks with Manchester United over a potential move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

The highly rated -year-old would have cost around €m last summer but after a less impressive season he could cost as little as €m.
