This Financial Literacy Website is a project initiated by the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre(CARTAC). CARTAC is a regional resource, based in Barbados, which provides technical assistance and training in core areas of economic and financial management at the request of its participating countries. The CARICOM Council of Ministers of Finance and Planning (COFAP) took the decision to establish the Centre in September 1999. The Centre became operational in November 2001.
This website has been designed and made available in an effort to educate the reader on finances, finance terminology and the use of financial information to increase personal wealth and prepare for emergencies. It is also intended as a resource for Central Banks and other financial supervisory authorities.
The content presented here was researched and prepared by María Eugenia del Castillo Cabrera, who worked as an Intern at CARTAC offices during the summer of 2008. Maria who is from the Dominican Republic, is currently pursuing her Masters in Public Administration at Columbia University in New York City, USA.
